Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Map Plotter mobile application ("Map Plotter", "the App", "we", "us", "our") handles information. Map Plotter is free to use and requires no account, login, or sign-up of any kind.

1. Survey Data You Record — Never Collected by Us

Map Plotter lets you record roads, land features, and buildings, including their GPS coordinates (latitude/longitude), type, use, and optional contact details you enter (name, phone, remarks).

All of this data is stored only on your own device, in a local database. We do not operate any server that receives, stores, or has access to this data. It is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared by the App — with us or with any third party — under any circumstance, except when you personally choose to export it (as a CSV file, an Excel file, or a map.png image) and then share that exported file yourself, using your device's own share/export functions.

Because we never receive this data, we have no ability to access, copy, modify, or delete it on your behalf — it exists only on your device, under your control, for as long as you choose to keep it.

2. Location Permission

The App requests precise and approximate location permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) solely to record the GPS coordinates of the roads and buildings you survey, and to display your current position while doing so. Location data obtained this way is used only on-device, as described in Section 1, and is never transmitted anywhere by us.

The App also requests network and Wi-Fi state permissions (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE) and internet access, which are used to improve GPS accuracy and speed (assisted GPS) and to serve the advertising described below.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Map Plotter is free and supported by advertising served through Google AdMob: small ad cards shown within the Roads and Buildings lists, and a short video ad shown as a break before an export.

To serve and measure these ads, Google's AdMob SDK may collect and process information such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, general device information, and ad interaction data. This collection is performed by Google, governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Partner Sites policy, not by us directly. This advertising data collection is entirely separate from — and has no access to — the survey data described in Section 1.

We have configured AdMob to exclude ads rated for "Mature Audiences" from being shown in the App. This is Google's own automated content filter; while it substantially reduces the likelihood of inappropriate ad content, no ad network can guarantee this with absolute certainty.

4. Children's Privacy

Map Plotter is a professional field-survey tool and is not directed at, or designed for, children. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

5. Data Security

Since your survey data never leaves your device through the App itself, its security is primarily governed by your own device's security (screen lock, encryption, physical access). We encourage you to keep your device secured, particularly if it contains sensitive location or personal information about people or places you have surveyed.

6. Your Responsibility When Sharing Exported Data

Once you export data from the App (CSV, Excel, or map.png) and share it with anyone, that sharing is entirely your own action and decision. We have no visibility into, or control over, what you do with exported files after they leave the App. Please review the App's in-app disclaimer and our Terms & Conditions for more on this.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
